This pattern allows you to create a 20 inch x 20 inch (50cm x 50cm) tifaifai and, once downloaded, can be printed at home.

Though you may machine stitch the design, the instructions will be detailing how to hand sew it in the traditional manner.

The colors in the image are theoretical. You can personalize the design by choosing the colors when you purchase your fabrics.

As to the representation of the pattern, this one is called “Ape 3”. “Ape” is the Tahitian word for leaves that are in then alocasia family. They can be all sorts of shapes and sizes and are often found in the wild or in our gardens here in French Polynesia.
